Yesterday, on World Environment Day, a transformative step was taken towards addressing the global water crisis.
We’re proud to share the launch of the Global Air Water Generation Initiative (GAWGI) — spearheaded by our founder, Durga Das, a visionary committed to climate-resilient water solutions.

On this World Environment Day, a moment dedicated to reflection, resilience, and environmental responsibility, we are proud to announce the launch of the Global Air Water Generation Initiative (GAWGI) and the convening of its inaugural global summits in New Delhi, India, and Washington DC, USA. This bold new initiative signals a decisive global commitment to address one of humanity’s most urgent challenges: the accelerating global water crisis.
The world stands at a pivotal moment. Water scarcity—driven by climate change, population growth, pollution, and unsustainable resource extraction—now threatens billions across every continent. With less than one percent of Earth’s freshwater accessible for human use, we face a critical tipping point. Air Water Generation, Atmospheric Water Generation (AWG) and Atmospheric Moisture Extraction (AME) technologies offer a transformative solution by harvesting clean, potable water directly from the air. Scalable, decentralized, and increasingly powered by renewable energy, these innovations represent the next frontier of climate-resilient water infrastructure.
Technological breakthroughs are redefining how we respond to water stress, whether in rural communities, urban centers, disaster-prone regions, or climate-impacted megacities. These systems empower communities with localized access to safe water, reduce dependence on overburdened groundwater and failing infrastructure, and are becoming increasingly efficient and climate-aligned. From households to heavy industries, their applications are rapidly expanding. This is not just innovation—it is an urgent necessity for human survival and sustainability.
GAWGI is more than an initiative. It is a global movement. The complexity and scale of the global water crisis demand an unprecedented level of cross-sectoral collaboration. The GAWGI summits in New Delhi (India) and Washington DC (USA) will become annual anchor platforms that bring together government leaders, policy-makers, scientists, academic institutions, technologists, climate and water advocates, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, philanthropists, investors, and multilateral agencies. Together, this coalition will accelerate research, investment, policy development, and deployment of life-saving water technologies in real-world setting.
New Delhi represents the innovation, resilience, and ingenuity of the Global South, while Washington DC brings global leadership, financial strength, and policy influence. These twin summits will serve as the central convening spaces each year for assessing global progress, sharing cutting-edge breakthroughs, shaping frameworks, and strengthening the AWG and AME sectors to meet the water needs of the coming decades.
We invite you to become a founding part of this vital global effort.
